When you shut your eyes at night,
The world is a vacuum
And you’re left alone.
Where the ones who care about you hurt you.
Where strangers surprise you with their kindness, only to stab you when they’re more than strangers.
The world is not an oyster,
The world is a cyclone.
A disaster.
You breathe borrowed air,
Your lungs are chimneys,
Your eyes are extinguished fires.
When you shut them,
You perish and you’re forgotten.
